The Next Hamstead Marshall Parish Council meeting
October 11th 2024
Aurora over Hamstead Marshall
There was a lovely Aurora over Hamstead Marshall last night with a chance of a second one tonight (11 October 2024)

These were taken around 8.00p.m. and three hours later we were given a special sighting of STEVE. In all his/her Red glory. Steve is …… a ‘Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement’, the spectacle is caused by a flowing ribbon of particles breaking into the earth’s atmosphere.

There’s another chance possibly tonight. Find a dark place, Clear skies and wrap up warm.Look to the North and East. Sometimes a camera Phone helps find it but your eyes need 20 mins to adjust to the dark. Coombe Gibbet is normal very busy when there’s any chance of one so the car park to the East (West Woodhay end) is a good place to go.
Good Luck

Road Repairs have begun and the first part is from The Craven Arms towards Ash Tree Corner. The works are scheduled to happen between 8.00am and 5.00 pm for 5 Days.

Watery Lane has been living up to it’s name with a major water leak from an 8″ main pipe.

The colours along the Ridgeway have been spectacular recently

We’ve had some lovely fiery skies recently.

Plenty of Local Fungi are turning up, but be very careful in what you collect.

A short trip up to Combe Gibbet gives a great perspective of the green and pleasant land we live in. At the same time it’s always lovely to appreciate the 5 counties around us.

But watch out for the Gibbet itself, it’s looking rather precarious.

The abundance of berries and wild fruit all around will hopefully give the local wildlife a chance to feast before the Autumn and Winter arrive.

The new weir bypass at the Craven Fishery is working well. It was great to see fishermen using the mill pool recently.

A celebration and Coronation Lunch was held at the Village Hall on Monday 8th May. A good time was had by all.

The Hamstead Marshall Bus Stop at Ash Tree corner is in the process of being replaced. It has recently had some work done to stabilise the roof and front pillars. It is hoped that it will be replaced before the end of the summer 2023.

Hamstead Marshall added to her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Green Canopy Map as part of her Platinum Jubilee Planted on December 11th, 2021, and notified on January 18th, 2022.
